چکیده
Background: Frailty, defined as a state of decreased physiologic reserve, characterized by loss resiliency in the face acute stress is condition frequently encountered liver surgeons. We sought to evaluate frailty predictor postoperative complications following resection using modified index (mFI). Methods: This retrospective cohort study follows consecutive adult patients undergoing between 2011 and 2018 at single academic institution. An mFI consisting 11 variables adapted for NSQIP database from Canadian Study Health Aging Frailty Index was used. Patients were stratified high (≥0.27) low (< 0.27). Results: Among 409 resections, 58/409(14%) had mFI. Low significantly younger (63vs.70 years, p< 0.001) more likely meet >4 METS(90%vs.60%, 0.001). Median length hospital stay longer group (9.5 vs. 5days, with higher proportion (79%vs.46%, true minor complications, major 90-day mortality. Longer operating time, per 30-minute increase (OR=1.15, 95%CI[1.03 1.27]), number segments resected (OR=1.43, 95%CI 1.12 1.82), mFI, unit (OR=6.74, [2.76 t o16.51]) independent predictors development Conclusion: The predicts outcomes can be used risk stratification tool being considered surgery.

Frailty as a predictor of morbidity and mortality in inpatient head and neck surgery.
IMPORTANCE The increasing number of elderly and comorbid patients undergoing surgical procedures raises interest in better identifying patients at increased risk of morbidity and mortality, independent of age. Frailty has been identified as a predictor of surgical complications. OBJECTIVE To establish the implications of frailty as a predictor of morbidity and mortality in inpatient otolaryng...
متن کاملPostoperative CA19-9 Change Is a Useful Predictor of Intrahepatic Cholangiocarcinoma Survival following Liver Resection
BACKGROUND To investigate the clinical significance of the perioperative CA19-9 change for predicting survival in intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) patients treated with surgical resection. METHODS We retrospectively reviewed the data from 74 ICC patients treated with surgical resection between April 2001 and July 2010. Perioperative CA19-9 (preoperative level, postoperative lowest level,...

متن کاملEffect of preoperative chemotherapy on postoperative liver regeneration following hepatic resection as estimated by liver volume
BACKGROUND In order to analyze postoperative liver regeneration following hepatic resection after chemotherapy, we retrospectively investigated the differences in liver regeneration by comparing changes of residual liver volume in three groups: a living liver donor group and two groups of patients with colorectal liver metastases who did and did not undergo preoperative chemotherapy. METHODS ...
